"A modern-day take on the alpargatas  (a traditional utility shoe of Argentinian workers), the slip-ons have espadrille-esque canvas uppers, soft leather insoles, and flip-flop-like bottoms. Simple, comfy, light, affordable, and available in eighteen colors, they have everything it takes to be the perfect summer shoe."

"It’s an exciting time, then, when a new player hits the scene with a wearable alternative to the sustainarati appears and not only offers an attractive product but adds an additional level of social consciousness. Tom’s Shoes is one of these players, and at $40 I can totally justify buying a pair.

Tom's Shoes: The Most Ethical Shoes

Tom’s Shoes touch all the typical notes. Natural fibers? Yes. Sweatshop free? Of course. Stitched construction? Yawn. Where Tom’s stands apart is in the recognition that products are created by people, who are rooted in community, and that a proper 21st century corporation has the responsibility to respect and enrich the communities upon which it depends. To this end, for every pair of shoes they sell Tom’s will donate a pair to a child in the city in which the shoes are produced."

"Classic Slip-On Shoe

Toms Shoes is taking over Hollywood – and for a good cause! The latest in feel-good footwear (Lindsay Lohan, Kate Bosworth, Hilary and Halley Duff, Britney Murphy, just to name a few, all own them), these canvas slip-on shoes are not only a must-have because of their unique lightweight design and guilt-free price tag, but because for every pair purchased the company donates a pair to a child in South America or Africa. That’s right! After a life-changing trip to South America, founder Blake Mycoskie was inspired to help end the region’s poverty and health issues. His mission: simply to make life more comfortable. We’d say he’s certainly got his foot in the door…Imported"

Toms02

Since Toms started in March, we have experienced tremendous sales and appearances in many magazines and articles including but not excluded to: Item Magazine, Oprah, Girl Shop, LA Times, VOGUE.

Blake Mycoskie, founder of Toms, was inpired by the ancient alpagatos and the poverty stricken kids in Argentina while he was traveling there earlier this year. Here's our mission statement:

"TOMS was created with a singular mission: To make life more comfortable. TOMS accomplishes this through it’s ultra lightweight design and the company’s commitment to match every pair purchased with a donated pair to a child in need…there are no complicated formulas, it’s simple…you buy a pair of TOMS and the company gives a pair to a child on your behalf."
